Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Gaibandha and Sirajganj districts, Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola District and Rajarhat Upazila of Kurigram District in two days.
GAIBANDHA: A truck helper was killed in a road accident in Anandabazar area under Fulchhari Upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.
Local sources said a rice-laden truck was heading towards Sadullapur Upazila town of the district from the Kalirbazar area under Fulchhari Upazila on Wednesday afternoon. When the truck reached Anandabazar area at 4 pm, one of the front wheels of the truck was broken, resulting into the driver to lose control over steering and to fall into a roadside ditch, leaving both driver and helper seriously injured.
Later, the locals rescued and sent them to Gaibandha General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared helper Mozahid, a resident of Saharbazar area of Sadar Upazila, dead and admitted the driver there.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fulchhari Police Station (PS) Mazharul Islam confirmed the incident.
SIRAJGANJ: A young man was killed in a collision between an engine-driven rickshaw and a motorcycle in front of Bagbati Union Parishad in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased Sagar, 32, was the son of Sanowar Hossain of Garudaha Village in the upazila.
Sirajganj Sadar PS OC Md Rakibul Islam said that a rickshaw and a motorcycle collided in front of Bagbati Union Parishad, seriously injuring the motorcycle rider. He later died on the spot. On receiving information, the police reached the spot and recovered the body.
LALMOHAN, BHOLA: A child was killed after being hit by a tom-tom on his way home after school on the Raichand-Lordhardinge road in Battala area of Ward No. 2 of Lordhardinge Union in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased Jisan, 6, was the son of Rubel of that area. He used to study in the infant class of the local Gangaram Das Mandir Pathshala.
It is known that after Jisan was hit by a tom-tom and seriously injured, he was taken to Char Fasson Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead.
In this connection, Lalmohan PS OC Md Oliul Islam said, the tom-tom is in the custody of locals. If a complaint is received from the deceased’s family, necessary legal action will be taken.
RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM: A madrasa student was killed after being hit by a bus in the Amin Bazar area of Chhinai Union in Rajarhat Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased Md Nahid Hasan, 15, was the son of Md Mahbub Alam of Khedabag area of Lalmonirhat District and a student of Abdul Sobhan Bepari Talimul Quran Hafiziya and Lillah Boarding Madrasa.
Police and family sources said that Nahid was crossing the paved road in Amin Bazar area on his way home from the madrasa. At that time, a Five Star Paribahan bus heading from Rangpur to Kurigram hit him, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to Kurigram General Hospital where he was declared dead. The bus driver and helper fled the scene after the accident.
Rajarhat PS OC Mamunur Rashid said that the deceased’s father filed a case with the PS.
