State Minister Azad gives jobs to two martyred family members

DEBIGANJ, PANCHAGARH, July 23: State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad has set a commendable example by providing employment opportunities to two members of families who lost loved ones in the July movement.

On Thursday morning, two individuals joined as office assistants at the MP visiting rooms in Boda and Debiganj upazilas of his constituency, Panchagarh. They are Moniza, sister of July martyr Sumon from Sakoya Union in Boda Upazila, and Mamun Islam, son of July martyr Abu Saeed from Mareya Union in Debiganj Upazila.

According to government guidelines, MP’s visiting room in each upazila is entitled to one office assistant post. Utilising this provision, State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad gave priority to members of July martyr families from his constituency.
Local residents have welcomed this initiative. In their view, the State Minister has demonstrated responsible and compassionate leadership by prioritising employment for martyr family members.

Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Indrajit Saha said Mamun Islam, son of July martyr Abu Saeed from Mareya Union, was appointed as office assistant based on the directives and recommendation of State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad, MP.

Confirming the same, Boda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rabiul Islam said Moniza, sister of July martyr Sumon from Sakoya Union, was appointed to the office assistant post following the State Minister's instructions.

An emotional Mamun Islam, who received the appointment in Debiganj upazila, said, "My father was martyred on 19 July 2024 while trying to save a person shot in Dhaka's Mohammadpur. Today, on 23 July, the State Minister has appointed me as an office assistant at his visiting room. I am grateful to the State Minister."

Regarding this, the state minister said, "Just as we honour 1971, we also honour 2024. Out of a commitment to pay respect to and stand by the families who made sacrifices in the July movement, I have recommended the appointment of two members of martyr families."

He added, "From the honorarium I receive for performing government duties, I have been personally providing Tk 5,000 each per month to four out of six July fighter families in the district."
