Students get tree saplings, umbrellas at Sonargaon

SONARGAON, NARAYANGANJ, July 23: As part of the ‘25 crore tree plantation in 5 years’ programme declared by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, a distribution of fruit tree saplings and umbrellas has been organised under the ‘One Student, One Tree programme’ at Goalpara High School in Bardi Union of Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Wednesday at the initiative of Azharul Islam Mannan, MP of Narayanganj-3 Constituency.

Khairul Islam Sajeeb, son of the MP and former senior joint convener of the District Juba Dal, presented a fruit tree sapling and an umbrella to each student as the chief guest at the programme organized on the school grounds.

Organised by Upazila BNP Publicity Secretary and Goalpara High School Guardian Member Selim Hossain Dipu and chaired by Goalpara High School Head Teacher Ahsan Habib, the event was attended by Upazila BNP Vice-President Ali Azgar, Narayanganj District Sramik Dal General Secretary (GS) Md Mojibur Rahman, Narayanganj Metropolitan Chhatra Dal former president Rakibur Rahman Sagar, and Metropolitan Krishak Dal GS Saifuddin Mahmud as special guests.

The speakers said, “Our hope is that the fruit tree saplings that have been handed over to the students today will not only bear fruit one day; they will also provide clean air, a green environment, and the dream of a beautiful, safe Bangladesh.”
