The National Citizen Party (NCP) has permanently expelled Md Aftab Majumdar, a member of its Chattogram Metropolitan Committee, following his arrest in a rape case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

The decision was announced in an organisational order issued by the NCP Chattogram Metropolitan Committee on Thursday, a day after police arrested Aftab from the BDR Field area under Halishahar Police Station.

According to the party order, the expulsion was approved in line with the party constitution and relevant organisational provisions after "serious allegations" were raised against him for engaging in activities contrary to the party's policies, ideology and organisational discipline.

"It is the fundamental responsibility of every member to uphold the policies, ideology and party discipline of the National Citizen Party (NCP). However, Md Aftab Majumdar has been permanently expelled from the post of member of the Chattogram Metropolitan Committee as serious allegations have been raised against him for being involved in activities against the organisation's policies and ideology, in accordance with the party constitution and applicable organisational provisions," the order said.
