Father in uniform finds son’s body

A police constable in Kishoreganj experienced a devastating moment when he discovered that the child’s body he had gone to recover after a road accident was his own son.
The deceased was identified as Tuhin, 10, a fourth-grade student of Gaital Abdul Wahid Janata Government Primary School in the district town.
The accident occurred at around 10:30am on Friday (July 24) on the road near the school when a cement-laden truck ran over Tuhin, leaving him dead on the spot.
Tuhin’s father, Constable Shamsul, is currently serving at Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station. Their ancestral home is in neighbouring Netrakona district.
According to police and local sources, Shamsul went to the spot after receiving information about the accident as part of his duty. However, he was unaware that the victim whose body he was going to recover was his own child.
After reaching the scene and seeing his son’s body, the police officer broke down in tears.
Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abul Kalam Bhuiyan said Shamsul was a dedicated member of the force.
“He went to the spot after receiving information about the accident. Later, he came to know that the deceased child was his own son. The incident is extremely painful for all of us,” the OC said.
He added that the body had been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital for further procedures.
The OC further said police had seized the truck involved in the accident, but its driver managed to flee. “Efforts are underway to arrest the driver, and legal action is being taken in this regard,” he added.
