Tree planting drive launched at Singra

SINGRA, NATORE, July 24: A tree plantation drive was launched in Singra on Friday as part of a nationwide campaign to support the government's target of planting 250 million trees over the next five years.

Local MP Principal Anwarul Islam inaugurated the programme by planting fruit, forest and medicinal tree saplings on the grounds of Singra Chalanbeel Women's Degree College. The event was organised by the Zia Parishad.

Speaking at the programme, the MP underscored the importance of tree plantation in protecting the environment, maintaining ecological balance and mitigating the impacts of climate change. He urged people from all walks of life to take part in the campaign by planting and caring for trees.

The programme was chaired by Professor Harun-or-Rashid, President of the Singra Upazila unit of the Zia Parishad.
