Don’t spread confusion,says Ishraque

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain on Sunday urged the public not to spread confusion over a viral video showing an unwanted commotion in the parliament area, saying he had stepped in to help law enforcement officials bring the situation under control.

A statement signed by the state minister’s Press Officer, Mahfuz Kabir, said an unexpected situation involving arguments and scuffles suddenly broke out between party activists and members of the public after the ceremony in the parliament area on Saturday.

According to the statement, Ishraque Hossain quickly went to the spot when the situation became tense.

He assisted law enforcement agencies in bringing the situation under control, tried to calm the rival groups and took steps to clear the traffic congestion caused by blocked roads.

The statement said Ishraque stood between the two sides to prevent a fight and kept them apart.

He later instructed both sides to leave the scene, after which the situation returned to normal.

The statement alleged that some quarters were using a video circulating on social media to portray the incident differently and spread misleading information about the state minister’s role.
It described such claims as completely baseless.

The statement said Ishraque Hossain remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful environment.

It also said an investigation is under way to determine whether there was any incitement or a planned attempt to create disorder behind the incident.

The statement concluded by urging everyone to refrain from spreading misleading information, rumours and propaganda.
