'15m face acute food insecurity in BD'

More than 15 million people in Bangladesh are currently experiencing acute food insecurity, with the number projected to rise to over 18 million by the end of 2026, according to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis released on Wednesday.

The findings were presented at a high-level national workshop in Dhaka. The Ministry of Food organized the event in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Action Against Hunger, Save the Children, and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).

The workshop, led by the Food Planning and Monitoring Unit (FPMU) under the Ministry of Food, brought together senior government officials, development and humanitarian partners, academics, and representatives of civil society to discuss the country's evolving food security situation.
