Mother, daughter stabbed to death in Kalabagan, son-in-law arrested

A mother and daughter were stabbed to death reportedly by their son-in-law at a house in Kanthalbagan in the capital's Kalabagan area, police said.

The deceased are identified as Farzana Akter Ratri, 20, and her mother Firoza Begum, 38.

Kalabagan Police Station officer In-charge (OC) Fazle Ashiq told the media that the incident took place around 9:30 am on Sunday due to a family dispute. Police have arrested the deceased son-in-law Hridoy alias Shipon.

Police said that Shipon and his wife Farzana were fighting in the morning due to a family dispute. At one stage, Farzana's mother Firoza tried to stop the fight by taking her daughter's side. 

At that time, Shipon stabbed his wife and mother-in-law. Farzana died on the spot. Firoza was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a serious condition. The doctor declared her dead there.

The OC said, "The man named Shipan stabbed his wife and mother-in-law to death."

Police said that Hridoy and Farzana's homes are in Shariatpur. An investigation is underway to find out the details of the incident.
