Iran, Oman discuss temporary shipping route in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has confirmed it is holding talks with Oman on establishing a temporary single shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, while reiterating that it is not engaged in direct negotiations with the United States.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the proposed route, covering the territorial waters of Iran and Oman, would serve as an interim arrangement until a permanent agreement is reached. Officials described the initiative as a confidence-building measure aimed at improving maritime stability in the strategic waterway.

Despite the diplomatic engagement, Tehran said it remains on high military alert. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated it was prepared to respond to any threat, while the US Central Command said American forces remain ready to safeguard commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
