Justice for July genocide must be ensured: Ishraque

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain on Wednesday said the struggle will continue until those responsible for the genocide committed during the July mass uprising are brought to justice.

He made the remarks while speaking after laying a wreath at the July Martyrs’ Memorial at Shahbagh to pay tribute to those killed and injured during the July mass uprising.

“On behalf of my generation, I want to say that we have not forgotten July. We have not forgotten the July fighters.

We will not stop until justice is ensured for the genocide committed in Bangladesh,” Ishraque said.

Referring to recent developments, he said attempts were being made to create instability on campuses by forces that were on the side of the mass uprising.

The state minister alleged that the recent incidents could be part of a broader conspiracy. “I think this could be part of a long-term conspiracy. Through this conspiracy, those from the fallen fascist regime, who looted thousands of crores of taka from Bangladesh, may try to reinvest that money to destabilise the country and eventually attempt to return,” he said.-UNB
