Chittagong Port has seen significant growth in both revenue earnings and surplus as it has achieved the highest financial performance to date in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

As per the provisional figures, revenue earnings has risen by 26.74 per cent to reach Tk 6,801.42 crore in FY 2025-26, up from Tk 5,366.50 crore in the previous fiscal year.

During the same period, revenue expenditure dropped by Tk 16.16 crore to Tk 2,372.41 crore.

Combined with increased earnings and controlled expenditure, the port's pre-tax revenue surplus surged by 48.73 per cent to Tk 4,429.01 crore in a single year.

A review of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) data shows that revenue surplus has more than doubled over the last five fiscal years.

In FY 2021-22, the port earned Tk 4,072.55 crore in revenue and spent Tk 1,966.60 crore, generating a pre-tax surplus of Tk 2,105.95 crore.

Revenue rose to Tk 4,438.93 crore in FY 2022-23, with expenditures at Tk 2,134.81 crore, leaving a surplus of Tk 2,304.12 crore.

In FY 2023-24, earnings climbed further to Tk 4,830.37 crore against expenditures of Tk 2,114.98 crore, producing a surplus of Tk 2,715.39 crore.

In FY 2024-25, revenue reached Tk 5,366.50 crore against expenditures of Tk 2,388.57 crore, resulting in a surplus of Tk 2,977.93 crore.

However, growth accelerated sharply in FY 2025-26. Revenue grew by Tk 1,434.92 crore year-on-year, while expenditure dropped by 0.68 percent from Tk 2,388.57 crore to Tk 2,372.41 crore.

Consequently, the revenue surplus expanded by Tk 1,451.08 crore; in a single year to hit Tk 4,429.01 crore.

Even during the first 11 months of FY 2025-26, the port maintained an upward trajectory, surpassing Tk 6,077 crore in revenue and reaching Tk 4,287 crore in surplus.

Port authorities noted that because the figures for FY 2025-26 are provisional, minor adjustments may occur once final audited statements are published.
