Gold price drops by Tk 3,266 per Bhori in Bangladesh a day after sharp hike

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices in the domestic market by up to Tk 3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT, just one day after raising prices by Tk 9,856 per bhori. The revised prices came into effect at 10:00 am on Friday.

According to a BAJUS statement, the decision was taken at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held at 9:00 am on Friday.

Under the new price list, the price of 22-carat gold, the highest-quality gold has been set at Tk 229,664 per bhori (11.664 grams), down from Tk 232,930 a day earlier.

The price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 219,342 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will now be sold at Tk 188,374 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method has been priced at Tk 153,848 per bhori.

While gold prices have been reduced, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk 4,899 per bhori. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver remain Tk 4,666, Tk 4,024 and Tk 3,266 per bhori, respectively.
