Pistol, Revolver found in Dhaka garbage dump

Police recovered a pistol, a revolver and six rounds of ammunition from an abandoned garbage dump in the South Khilgaon area of the capital late Saturday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Shahjahanpur Police Station conducted a raid at around 12:35am on Sunday at a garbage dumping site beside the Jhilmpar Public Toilet in Bagicha area of South Khilgaon.
Police said they recovered the pistol, revolver and six rounds of ammunition from the site in an abandoned condition.
Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations Division, confirmed the recovery, saying the weapons and ammunition were seized during an operation based on confidential information.
He added that legal proceedings in connection with the recovery are underway.
