Dhaka asks to return of Hadi's murderer, expedite Hasina's extradition

Bangladesh has urged India to expedite the process of extraditing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and return the accused involved in the murder of Shaheed Osman Hadi.

The request was made during a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday (August 10).

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues of bilateral importance between Bangladesh and India. Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and other relevant officials were present at the meeting.

Bangladesh expressed its expectation that India would expedite the process of extraditing Sheikh Hasina. The government also reiterated its request for India to return the suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Shaheed Osman Hadi to Bangladesh.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman welcomed the Indian high commissioner, who shared his experience of serving in Dhaka over the past two months.

The prime minister stressed the need to create a conducive environment to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Shahadat Swadhin provided the information.
