Bangladesh, Egypt seek stronger co-op in industry, trade, investment

He said the two countries could create new areas of industrial and economic cooperation by leveraging their longstanding historical and friendly relations.

The minister made the remarks when Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Mohi Eldin Ahmed Fahmy paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Industry on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest, particularly investment expansion in the industrial sector, increased bilateral trade, technology and skills exchange, and the potential for joint ventures.

The minister said Bangladesh is currently advancing its industrialisation and economic development, creating opportunities for foreign investment in the country’s industrial sector. He said investment by Egyptian businessmen and industrial entrepreneurs in Bangladesh would benefit both countries.

Abdul Muktadir also said Bangladesh and Egypt have opportunities to work together in various industrial sectors, including leather, light engineering, pharmaceuticals, jute and jute products. Further development in these sectors could be achieved through the exchange of experience and technology.

Referring to the longstanding historical and friendly relations between the two countries, the Egyptian ambassador said Egypt is interested in deepening its economic and commercial ties with Bangladesh. He emphasised the need to increase cooperation in the industrial and investment sectors.

The ambassador said bilateral trade and investment could be further expanded by strengthening contacts between businessmen and industrial entrepreneurs of the two countries. He assured that Egypt would continue to provide necessary cooperation in this regard.

Both sides expressed optimism about further expanding industrial, trade and investment cooperation between Bangladesh and Egypt in the future.
