PM Tarique Rahman to distribute honorariums to religious leaders in Kishoreganj tomorrow

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will distribute honorariums for the current fiscal year among imams, muezzins and service providers of other religious institutions in Kishoreganj tomorrow (Sunday), while also distributing Family Cards at a programme in the district.

The prime minister will attend the programme as the chief guest at the Old Stadium in Kishoreganj Sadar at 4:00pm. The Ministries of Social Welfare and Religious Affairs are jointly organising the event.

Social Welfare Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain will chair the programme, while Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaykobad), Prime Minister's Public Administration Affairs Adviser (minister rank) Md Ismail Zabiullah, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin and local lawmakers are expected to attend.

Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman will release and distribute fish fry in the Old Brahmaputra River near Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat in Pakundia at 11:30am as part of National Fisheries Fortnight 2026 and exchange greetings with local dignitaries. At 12:30pm, he will visit the Katiadi Carp Hatchery Complex and attend the inauguration and award-giving ceremony of National Fisheries Fortnight at the Achmita George Institution field.

At 2:30pm, the prime minister will inaugurate government development projects at the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan and participate in a tree-planting programme organised by the Kishoreganj district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.

According to the programme details, a total of 256,074 religious leaders from 86,709 religious institutions will receive the state benefit during the 2026-27 fiscal year. For monthly honorariums, 82,656 mosques, 3,000 temples, 752 Buddhist monasteries and 301 churches across the country have been selected.
