BNP brings Rizvi, Aman, Farhad, Jabiullah into top leadership

The BNP has appointed four leaders as members of its National Standing Committee, the party’s highest policy-making body, in a move aime d at strengthening its organisational activities.

According to a press release issued by the party on Saturday, the newly appointed members are Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Md Aman Ullah Aman, Farhad Halim and Md Ismail Jabiullah.

The party expressed hope that the new members would contribute to important decisions concerning the BNP and the people through their prudent advice, intellect and experience at the highest policy-making forum.

The appointments were made in line with a decision of the party, said the release signed by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain.

The National Standing Committee has 19 posts. Fourteen posts were previously occupied, according to the party.

The existing members are BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Rafiqul Islam Mia, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and AZM Zahid Hossain.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir resigned on Thursday as BNP secretary general and from the party’s National Standing Committee following his nomination as the party’s candidate for the presidential election.

With the addition of the four new members, the committee now has 18 members.
