One killed over football match brawl in Sunamganj

One person was killed and five others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a football match of children in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Al Amin, 45.

According to police and local residents, a clash broke out on Saturday afternoon at Baliyaghat village under Sreepur North Union after one child hit another child during a football match on Friday. This issue was resolved temporarily, but tensions arose again the next day.

As sequel to that, a clash ensued between the groups on Saturday afternoon where Al Amin was seriously injured and was taken to Tahirpur Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.

Five other people were also injured.

Family members of the victim claimed that Abdun Noor, Latif, Abdul Quddus, Zakir and other people committed this clash. The accused are reported to be absconding.

Tahirpur Police OC Faruk Ahmed confirmed the incident and said that police drive is on arrest the culprits.
