Hasan hauls 9; earns the best player title

Hasan Mahmud, the right-arm pacer for Bangladesh’s dominating victory against the mighty Australia - has claimed the title of ‘Player of the match’ award. 

His stellar bowling performance was crucial for Bangladesh’s historic maiden Test victory on Australian soil. Hasan claimed nine wickets in two innings to effectively win the title for the team.

Previously, concerns arose after Nahid Rana was ruled out of the Australia tour due to injury, but Hasan stepped up to lead the attack effectively.

Opting to bowl first after losing the toss in the Test that began on August 13 in Darwin, Bangladesh bowled out the hosts for 198 runs in their first innings. Hasan delivered his career-best figures, bagging 6 for 55.

With this spell, he became the first Bangladeshi bowler to claim a five-wicket haul on Australian soil across all three formats. Earlier, Mashrafe Mortaza held the best Test figures with 3 wickets, while Rubel Hossain in ODIs and Taskin Ahmed in T20Is had taken 4 wickets each.

Hasan carried his dominant momentum into the second innings after Bangladesh set a target with a 228-run lead. He provided the initial breakthroughs by removing both Australian openers before dismissing centurion Cameron Green.

He finished the second innings with figures of 3 for 56, cementing his role as the chief architect of Bangladesh's historic win.
