South Indian actress Anupama Parameswaran has recently opened up about a bitter experience from a two-year relationship. She said her former boyfriend’s controlling behaviour and emotional abuse had a profound impact on her life.
Although she did not reveal her ex-boyfriend’s name, her comments have sparked discussions on social media about actor Dhruv Vikram. However, neither Anupama nor Dhruv has publicly confirmed that they were in a relationship.
In an interview, Anupama said that while she was in the relationship, she felt uncomfortable and ashamed about her self-confidence, femininity and even her menstrual cycle. According to her, her former partner would make hurtful remarks about her periods at various times, which left her emotionally devastated.
Anupama also said that she once dreamed of having a large family and children. However, her bitter experience in the relationship changed her perspective. She also faced pressure to marry quickly. She said she felt uncomfortable when discussions about engagement began just a few months into the relationship, eventually leading her to walk away.
According to the actress, the prolonged controlling behaviour gradually made her feel disconnected from herself. She described it as “narcissistic abuse” and said the relationship had negatively affected both her mental and physical well-being.
Following the publication of Anupama’s comments, discussions surrounding Dhruv Vikram began, but he has not directly responded to the allegations. Dhruv recently said that excessive scrutiny of his personal life has affected him.
Anupama and Dhruv Vikram have co-starred in the film Bison Kaalamaadan. There had previously been speculation about their relationship, but neither of them has ever publicly acknowledged being romantically involved.
