Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) held 498 people in a 24-hour drive across Dhaka, filing 47 cases and recovering firearms, ammunition, drugs and other items, police said Friday.
The arrests were made by DMP units and police stations across Dhaka, says DMP PRD.
Mirpur Division recorded the highest number of arrests at 131, followed by Wari with 91, Uttara 59, Tejgaon 51, Motijheel 48, Gulshan 45, Ramna 36 and Lalbagh 31. Four people were arrested by DB and two by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, it said.
Police recovered two pipe guns, two rounds of ammunition, 39 rounds of Chinese rifle bullets in four magazines, 10,287 yaba tablets, 1.15 kg of cannabis, 70 bottles of Skaf, knife, scissors, blade, 5 mobile phones, Tk 499,870, wristwatch, 156 cards, truck, motorcycle and CPU.
