The Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow has rescued a Bangladeshi man named Rajon Hossain and arranged for his return to Bangladesh.
He was among at least 30 Bangladeshis who were allegedly deceived with promises of jobs and subsequently became involved in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Rajon was placed on a flight to Bangladesh at around 9:30 PM Moscow time on Friday (August 21).
Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, First Secretary (Labour) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow, confirmed the matter. He said Rajon’s repatriation was arranged after completing his immigration clearance. Following his rescue, the entire repatriation process was carried out under the supervision of the embassy.
According to the embassy, Rajon Hossain will travel to Bangladesh on an Ethiopian Airlines flight via Addis Ababa. He is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9:50 PM Bangladesh time on Sunday.
Meanwhile, on June 1, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment revoked the licenses and confiscated the security deposits of three recruiting agencies-R.S. International (RL-1428), Jabal-e-Noor (RL-2505), and T.S. Overseas Limited (RL-1755)-over allegations that they fraudulently sent 30 Bangladeshi youths to Russia by luring them with promises of high salaries and various benefits.
