9kg of Cannabis recovered from passenger bus in Narayanganj, driver and helper arrested

Highway police recovered 9 kilograms of cannabis from a passenger bus in the Kanchpur area of Sonargaon in Narayanganj on Saturday morning and arrested the bus driver and his helper.

A team of Kanchpur Highway Police conducted a search of a Dhaka-bound Lal Shobuj AC bus on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway based on a tip-off. During the search, police found the cannabis concealed in a blue cloth bag inside the luggage compartment on the right side at the rear of the bus.

The arrested individuals were identified as Fuad Uddin, 36, son of Nur Nabi of Sonapur in Noakhali Sadar, and Md Saluddin, 22, son of late Abdul Jabbar of Madhya Karimpur.

Kanchpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shamim said the two were allegedly transporting the drugs in the bus's luggage compartment. They had reportedly been carrying the cannabis from Noakhali for distribution elsewhere.
