The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported 702 more patients admitted to different hospitals with dengue across the country in the last 24 hours.
But no deaths were from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease over the 24 hours from 8am on Saturday.
According to the DGHS’s Saturday bulletin, 123 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation, while 88 were admitted in Dhaka South City Corporation. Additionally, another 47 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka outside DNCC-DSCC.
Among other divisions, 115 patients were admitted in Barishal, 107 in Chattogram, 114 in Khulna, 38 in Mymensingh, 55 in Rajshahi, and 15 in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS, 77 people have died of dengue so far this year, including 23 deaths in August.
From January 1 this year, a total of 28,090 people have been hospitalised with dengue across the country, of whom 26,101 have recovered and been discharged, the DGHS said.
The DGHS has been maintaining records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000. The highest number of hospitalisations�"321,179�"was recorded in 2023, when the disease also claimed a record 1,705 lives.
Last year, more than 400 people died of dengue, while around 102,000 cases were reported.
