Chevron-AUW honours 9 young women as Emerging STEM Leaders

The Asian University for Women (AUW) campus in Chattogram recently hosted the closing ceremony of the 2026 “Math and Science Summer School”.

Supported by Chevron Bangladesh, the programme concluded with the awarding of certificates to 104 college girls from across the country who successfully completed the intensive four-week programme.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the “Emerging Woman Leader in STEM” award to nine outstanding participants in recognition of their exceptional performance and leadership potential.

The chief guest at the ceremony was Dr Md Ziauddin, Divisional Commissioner, Chattogram. Joining him on the dais were distinguished guests, including Ashiq Rahman, Director of Operations, Chevron Bangladesh; Dee Bourbon, Lead Advisor, Community Partnerships, Chevron; and Dr Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury, Director of the Summer School, AUW.

Special guest Ashiq Rahman, Director of Operations, Chevron Bangladesh, said, “Chevron is proud to have supported the Math and Science Summer School since 2019. Through initiatives like this, we aim to encourage more young women to pursue STEM education and unlock their potential.”

Chief guest Dr Md Ziauddin, Divisional Commissioner, Chattogram, praised AUW and Chevron Bangladesh for their continued commitment to advancing women’s education and preparing future leaders in STEM. He emphasised that initiatives such as the Summer School play a vital role in shaping the next generation of scientists, innovators and changemakers.

Since its inception in 2019, the Chevron Bangladesh-supported AUW Summer School has given 477 young women from across Bangladesh access to specialised courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer programming and public health, taught by experienced local and international faculty.
