Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said that Bangladesh will take the Rohingya issue to the international level following the path taken by the governments of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, while prioritising territorial integrity, security and human rights.
The minister made the remarks at a discussion titled 'Rohingya Crisis: Current Reality and Future Actions', organised by the Policy Research Center at the National Press Club on Sunday.
Asaduzzaman said the crisis was fundamentally an internal matter of Myanmar and that the Myanmar government must take effective measures to protect the Rohingyas' human rights.
"The Rohingyas are citizens of Myanmar. The Myanmar government must take effective steps to protect their human rights," he said.
He said Bangladesh had repeatedly sought to convince Myanmar through diplomatic channels that the Rohingyas are an integral part of its territory.
