Magura child murder: Death reference, appeal verdict today

The High Court sets to deliver its verdict on the death reference and appeal of Hitu Sheikh in Magura eight-year-old Ayesha rape and murder case.

An HC bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja are expected to pronounce the verdict on Tuesday.

The Magura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on May 17, 2025 sentenced Hitu Sheikh to death and acquitted three other accused. The tribunal subsequently sent the case records to the High Court as a death reference for confirmation of the sentence.
