55th Jashne Julus starts in Ctg with participation of millions of people

The procession is being led by Allama Syed Muhammad Sabir Shah, Sajjadanashin of Darbar-e-Siricot, accompanied by Sahebzada Syed Muhammad Qasem Shah and Shahzada Syed Muhammad Aqib Shah.

The procession will pass through major areas including Muradpur, Gate No. 2, GEC Mor, WASA, Dampara, Lalkhan Bazar and Tigerpass before ending at the Jameya Ahmadia Sunnia Madrasa ground.

A religious gathering, Zuhr prayers and a special munajat seeking the prosperity and well-being of the country and its people will be held at the venue.

People from Chattogram city, surrounding upazilas and different parts of the country began arriving in the city from early morning to take part in the procession, organised by Anjuman-e-Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust. Many gathered in Muradpur and Sholashahar by buses, trucks and other vehicles, while others arrived on foot. Crowds continued to swell on major city roads as the morning progressed.

Organisers said the event carries messages of peace, humanity, non-violence and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Major roads and intersections along the route have been decorated with arches, banners, festoons and green flags. Decorative arches have been erected in Sholashahar, Muradpur, GEC Mor, WASA, Lalkhan Bazar and Tigerpass.

Around 10,000 volunteers from the Anjuman Trust, along with law enforcement personnel, have been deployed to maintain order and security. More than 100 temporary toilets have also been installed around the madrasa and nearby areas for the convenience of devotees.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, Anjuman-e-Rahmania Sunnia Alia Trust spokesperson Advocate Musaib Uddin Bakhtiar said organising a Jashne Julus to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is considered a Sunnah and a highly meritorious religious practice.

He said millions of devotees participate in the procession with devotion and joy, while accusing some people of attempting to create confusion by opposing the event.

Highlighting the scale and significance of the procession, Bakhtiar said millions of people take part in the annual Chattogram Jashne Julus while maintaining a religious and spiritual atmosphere. He described it as the world's largest religious procession and said it has set a unique example both in Bangladesh and internationally.

According to organisers, the first Jashne Julus in Chattogram was held in 1974 under the guidance of Awlad-e-Rasul Allama Hafiz Syed Muhammad Tayyab Shah (RA). The procession has been organised every year since then to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
