Rizvi: Following the Prophet’s path can help build a just state

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said following the teachings and example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) can help build a just society and state.

“We should follow Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in every aspect of our lives. It will illuminate our lives and keep us from going astray. If we follow his path in our national life, we can build a society and state based on justice,” Rizvi said.

He made the remarks at a prayer gathering organised at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan on Wednesday to mark Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.

Rizvi said a fascist regime had fallen through a mass uprising in which students and members of the public had sacrificed their lives, and that the BNP formed the government through an election.

“Our government is a government of the people. We will ensure accountability to the people,” he said.

He said BNP ministers and leaders were being held accountable through the media and Parliament, adding that such accountability ultimately meant accountability to the people. He credited BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman with ensuring this accountability.

Addressing the Home Minister, Rizvi said law and order had improved but needed further strengthening. “People expect you to improve the law-and-order situation further and ensure that criminals are quickly arrested and brought to justice,” he said.

Rizvi described Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the greatest person in human history and said the Tarique Rahman-led government must uphold justice and fairness by following his ideals.

“The BNP will continue working as a government of the people,” he said.
