285 youths get employment at Khulna job fair

KHULNA, Aug 27: A total of 285 young job-seekers secured employment on the spot at a day-long event titled “Job Fair-2026” held in the conference hall of CSS Home Technical Institute in Gallamari of the city on Tuesday.

The fair, drawing more than 800 young job-seekers from different areas, where 20 renowned recruiting companies participated, conducted interviews on the spot and handed over joining letters to 285 successful candidates on the same day.

Khulna City Area Development Programme, World Vision Bangladesh, CSS Home Technical Institute, Asia Technical Training Centre and the Department of Youth Development, Khulna jointly organised the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju stressed the importance of making young people skilled and self-reliant and praised the organisers for arranging the fair.

The administrator said the government is giving importance not only to employment generation but also to expansion of education. 

CSS Director of Education David Thomas Gomes delivered the welcome address, while World Vision Bangladesh Area Development Programme Manager Surabhi Biswas highlighted the objectives of the fair and gave a brief overview of the 20 participating recruiting organisations.

Deputy Director (DD) of the Department of Youth Development Md Abul Kalam, DD of the Department of Women Affairs Suraiya Siddika, Deputy Inspector General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Santaz Billah, Sonadanga Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam, Deputy General Manager of BSCIC District Office Golam Saklain, Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry representative Shamima Sultana Shilu, World Vision Bangladesh National Coordinator (Youth Development and Urban Livelihood) Md Rahul Amin Sarker and Manager-Livelihoods Mohammad Ruhul Amin, among others, addressed the event.

World Vision Bangladesh Senior Manager Liton Mondal delivered the closing remarks and vote of thanks.

The participating companies operated individual booths from 11 am to 2 pm where they collected CVs and conducted interviews with jobseekers.

Later, the KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju handed over the appointment letters to the newly recruited young men and women.
