Father, son electrocuted in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Aug 27: A father and his 12-year-old son died after being electrocuted while irrigating a paddy field with an electric motor in Char Barafa Village of Jalalabad Union in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The victims were identified as Enayet Kha, 40, son of late Shamsu Kha, and his son, Mehedi Hasan Kha. Mehedi was a class five student at a local government primary school and was scheduled to sit for an examination at 1:30 pm on Thursday.

According to local residents, Enayet was electrocuted while operating the motor to irrigate the field. Mehedi was also electrocuted when he tried to rescue his father.

Family members rescued the two and took them to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital. Doctors declared both dead at about 1 pm.
