Bangladesh received $2.669 billion in remittances in the first 29 days of August, marking a 22.30 per cent increase from the same period last year.
The remittances were equivalent to around Tk 32,828 crore at an exchange rate of Tk 123 per US dollar, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed on Sunday.
He said expatriate Bangladeshis sent home around Tk 2,632 crore in remittances over the three days from Thursday to Saturday.
During the first 29 days of August last year, Bangladesh received $2.182 billion in remittances.
From July 1 to August 29 of the current fiscal year, total remittance inflows stood at $5.527 billion, compared with $4.66 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
