Bangladesh Bank's net profit rose to around Tk 25,900 crore in the 2025-26 fiscal year, up from Tk 22,620 crore in the previous fiscal year.
The central bank's board of directors approved the financial statements for the 2025-26 fiscal year at a meeting chaired by Governor Mostakur Rahman on Sunday.
The board also approved a proposal to provide Bangladesh Bank employees with an incentive bonus equivalent to six times their basic salary.
The increase in profit was driven mainly by higher interest income from loans to banks amid a prolonged liquidity crisis, as well as earnings from investments of a portion of the country's foreign exchange reserves, according to sources concerned.
Bangladesh Bank recorded a net profit of around Tk 15,300 crore in the 2023-24 fiscal year, which rose to Tk 22,620 crore in 2024-25 before reaching Tk 25,900 crore in the latest fiscal year.
