14-point demands raised on Int’l Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances

A 14-point demands, including enactment of an international-standard law, formation of an independent investigation commission and scrapping the police’s sole jurisdiction over enforced disappearance cases, was submitted on Sunday on the occasion of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.

The demands were raised by the National Committee for Observing the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. As part of the programme, committee leaders, activists and people from different professions brought out a procession from Banglamotor towards the Jatiya Sangsad in the capital at 3pm. The procession passed through Farmgate and Tejgaon College before reaching Manik Mia Avenue, where a brief rally was held.

Dhaka-14 MP and enforced disappearance survivor Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, popularly known as Barrister Arman, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and former MP Dr AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, and leaders of the 11-party alliance addressed the rally.
