Two jailed for drug use in Saltha

Two people have been convicted of a one-month jail term in a mobile court of Saltha, Faridpur, for their drug use.

Both of them have been arrested from the raid of a garden in Gatti Union of the upazila on Monday (August 31) noon.

Md Shahin Sheikh, 40, son of Rustam Sheikh of Kathiar Gatti village and Md Jamal Matubbar, 38, son of Siddiq Matubbar of Dohar Gatti village are the convicts.

The upazila administration stated that they received intelligence about drug usage by the two men while staying in a garden in Gatti area. The operation was conducted there led by UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer) Md Dabir Uddin, resulting in the arrest of the two men.

The mobile court hearing was later convened at the spot, in which the two men were convicted one month each of simple imprisonment under section 36(5) of Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
