A job aspirant has been detained for allegedly using proxy candidates to sit for his written and viva examinations for a government job, the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) said.

The aspirant, Md Ripon Hossain, was detained after PSC officials compared his appearance with CCTV footage from the viva examination while he came to join the job at the PSC Secretariat on Tuesday.

Officials found discrepancies between his appearance and the person seen in the CCTV footage. After questioning, Ripon allegedly admitted that he had not personally taken either the written or viva examination for the post of office assistant under the PSC Secretariat.

The PSC said it filed a case against him and handed him over to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on Tuesday.

Ripon is a resident of Manikganj’s Saturia upazila.
