Smuggled goods worth Tk 97.13 lakh seized at Dhaka, Ctg airports

Customs intelligence officials have seized smuggled goods worth Tk 97.13 lakh in separate operations at Dhaka and Chattogram international airports.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) carried out the operations on 31 August and 1 September, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) said in a statement on Wednesday.

At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, officials searched the baggage of two passengers who arrived from Saudi Arabia on 31 August. They seized 481 cartons of foreign cigarettes from them. The cigarettes were worth around Tk 19.24 lakh.

On the same day, officials searched the baggage of a passenger arriving from Bangkok. They found 36 smartphones hidden inside the luggage. The phones included 19 Redmi Turbo 4 Pro and 17 Honor 200 sets. Their estimated value was Tk 15.96 lakh.�"bdnews24
