Bus services suspended on Natore-Rajshahi route

Bus services on the Natore-Rajshahi route have remained suspended since 6 AM on Friday (September 4), causing suffering for passengers travelling to different destinations.

Buses from Rajshahi that travel through Natore to Rangpur division, Dhaka and other destinations have stopped operating. The suspension was still in effect as of 10 AM on Friday.

Many passengers were seen waiting at the Rajshahi bus terminal after the services were suddenly halted.

A bus worker named Shamim said the dispute began on Thursday. He said workers in Natore stopped a Rajshahi-Darshana bus after allegedly forcing its passengers to get off and board a Natore bus.

Abdul Majid, general secretary of the Natore District Transport Workers' Union, said a bus of Rajshahi's Rabbi Paribahan had entered Natore without permission. Owners and workers in Natore sent the bus back to Rajshahi, he said.

Later, six to seven buses from Natore were allegedly stopped in Rajshahi. The dispute led to the suspension of bus services on the Natore-Rajshahi route, Majid said.

However, coaches travelling to Dhaka are operating normally, he added. He expressed hope that the ongoing problem would be resolved soon.
