A fire broke out after lightning struck in front of the residence of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku in Sirajganj on Wednesday.
No one was injured in the incident, and two Fire Service units brought the fire under control.
The incident occurred around 1:30pm in the Hosenpur area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila as heavy rain and lightning hit the area.
According to Fire Service and local sources, lightning struck near the gate of the minister’s residence, triggering the fire. Local residents alerted the Fire Service, which sent two units to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
The minister’s personal officer, Abu Hena Mostafa Noman, confirmed that the fire started following the lightning strike and said no one was injured.
Mohammad Abdur Rahman, deputy assistant director of the Sirajganj Fire Service, said the fire was initially believed to have been caused by lightning.
