Actor Ashraful Haque Don, an accused in the Salman Shah murder case, was sent to jail on Wednesday after a five-day remand. CID Inspector and investigation officer Mojibur Rahman produced Don before a Dhaka court and sought his detention in jail, saying he had withheld important information during interrogation.
According to the CID, Don, a close friend and co-actor of Salman Shah, acknowledged knowing several absconding accused but allegedly concealed crucial information about the case. Investigators also claimed to have found information suggesting his possible involvement, which is being verified.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana ordered Don to be sent to jail, prosecution official SI Shah Alam said. No bail petition was filed on his behalf. Don was arrested by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on August 9 and later handed over to the CID. On August 27, the court granted him five days remand after investigators sought seven days.
