Meghmallar Bosu on life support

Meghmallar Bosu has been placed on life support at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Dr Hasan Al Banna, a medical officer at the ICU on the fourth floor of DMCH’s new building, confirmed the development on Wednesday.

Meghmallar is a former president of a faction of the Dhaka University unit of the Bangladesh Students’ Union.

“His condition has deteriorated since Tuesday. While there are no significant signs of improvement, we are doing everything we can,” Dr Banna said.

Meghmallar, the central council member of the National People’s Action (NPA), was found unconscious at the Ramna Gate of Suhrawardy Udyan late on Monday night and brought to the hospital.

Friends rushed him to DMCH later, where doctors performed a gastric lavage.

Hospital sources indicated that his stomach was pumped due to poisoning.

He had initially received treatment in Bed 3 of Room 602 at the hospital.

On Tuesday afternoon, he was transferred to the ICU.

DMCH Director Brig Gen Md Asaduzzaman said, “Doctors felt he needed to be moved to the ICU, as his physical condition had been worsening since the afternoon.”‑bdnews24
