Seven more people died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8AM Saturday, raising the total number of deaths to 1,019, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total deaths, 100 were confirmed measles cases, while 919 were reported among people showing symptoms of the disease, the DGHS said in a statement issued on Saturday.
The health authorities also detected 855 suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period from 8AM Friday to 8AM Saturday.
The latest figures come a day after three people died in a single day with measles-related symptoms. A total of 1,012 new suspected measles cases were also reported during the same period on Friday.
The continued rise in suspected cases and deaths has raised concerns over the ongoing measles outbreak in the country.
