Three more people have died with suspected measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths with confirmed measles to 100 and deaths with measles-like symptoms to 922 this year.
The combined death toll from confirmed measles and suspected measles symptoms now stands at 1,022, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The figures were released in the DGHS’s regular health bulletin on Sunday.
Two of the latest deaths occurred in Dhaka, while 905 new patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country during the 24-hour period from 8am Saturday.
Of the new admissions, 509 were in Dhaka division, 31 in Rajshahi, 16 in Sylhet, 166 in Chattogram, 78 in Barishal, 57 in Mymensingh, 74 in Khulna and 27 in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS, a total of 151,024 patients with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15. Of them, 145,252 have recovered and been discharged, while 5,772 remain hospitalised.
The number of suspected measles cases recorded since March 15 has reached 171,543, including 20,069 confirmed cases.
