Police super suspended as drug test comes positive

Nizam Uddin, a police superintendent serving at Police Headquarters, is currently attached to the office of the deputy inspector general (DIG) of Rangpur Range. According to the report said that 

According to the notification, he left Police Headquarters on January 8 to attend the DSCSC-2026 course at Mirpur Cantonment.

During the course, Nizam Uddin fell ill on June 7 and was sent to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. On the advice of specialist physicians, he underwent a series of medical tests, including a drug screening.

The urine test came back positive for benzodiazepines (BZO) and amphetamine/methamphetamine.

The ministry said the test result was in violation of the discipline applicable to participants of the DSCSC course. It also classified the matter as misconduct punishable under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the rules, Nizam Uddin was placed under temporary suspension from government service with effect from August 31.

The suspension will remain in force in accordance with the applicable government service regulations.
