KHULNA, Sept 15: Prepaid electricity meter recharging under the West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) remained suspended for around 17 hours in 21 districts, including those in Khulna and Barishal divisions and Faridpur, due to a server glitch.

The recharging service resumed fully at 6:10 am on Tuesday, said a press release issued by Md Mahbubur Rahman, Assistant Manager (Public Relation Officer) of WZPDCL headquarters on Tuesday.

The press release said the logical connection between the database server and the application server of the prepaid metering system was disconnected at 1:15 pm on Monday. As a result, the vending operation, including prepaid meter recharging, was temporarily suspended, causing inconvenience to customers in different areas under WZPDCL.

A technical expert team of WZPDCL’s prepaid metering department worked continuously to restore the connection, and the vending operation became fully functional at 6:10 am on Tuesday.

In the press release, WZPDCL authorities expressed sincere regret to prepaid meter customers for the difficulties and inconvenience they faced while trying to recharge their meters during the service disruption. The authorities also said necessary technical measures have been taken to prevent recurrence of such problems in the future.

WZPDCL also sought suggestions and cooperation from all concerned to further improve the prepaid metering service, the press release added.
