Educated, skilled generation can take society forward: MP Milon

KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR, Sept 15:  An educated, skilled and responsible generation can take society and the state forward, said AKM Fazlul Haque Milon, lawmaker from Gazipur-5 and chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

“A large state is built on the foundation of small communities. Today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce. If they are properly nurtured, they can play an important role in the country’s development and nation-building,” he said.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a foundation stone-laying ceremony for a four-storey academic building of the historic Muslin Cotton Mills High School at Bhadartti Village in Kaliganj municipality around 11 am on Monday.

Fazlul Haque Milon said the progress of a society depends on an educated and skilled generation. Students, therefore, should not be confined to textbook-based education. They should also be encouraged to develop moral values and a sense of responsibility and take part in social and cultural activities as well as sports.

On local employment, Milon said qualified local residents should be given employment opportunities in various industries and institutions in Kaliganj.

Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer ATM Kamrul Islam, BNP leaders Humayun Kabir Master, Khalequzzaman Bablu, Mohammad Hossain Arman Master, Alamgir Hossain Swapan and Ibrahim Pradhan attended the programme as special guests.

Headteacher Tapas Kumar Das and Assistant Headteacher Billal Hossain of Muslin Cotton Mills High School, along with teachers, students, guardians and local leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations, were also present.

Later, he inaugurated newly constructed buildings at Kaliganj Government Girls’ High School, Jugli High School, Jamalpur Rajmohan Bidyapith and Chupair Girls’ School.
