Pickup driver killed in Fakirhat road mishap

FAKIRHAT, BAGERHAT, Sept 15: A 27-year-old pickup van driver was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while waiting for assistance after his van broke down on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the Kakdanga area of Fakhirhat Upazila of the district early Tuesday.
Police said Md Afzal Hossain, son of Md Monirul Islam of Guptipur Village in Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira District, had stopped his pickup on the roadside while travelling from Gopalganj to Satkhira when the speeding vehicle hit him and fled. Afzal was taken to Fakhirhat Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. 
OC (SI) of Mollahat Highway Police Station Md Yusuf Sheikh said the body would be handed over to the family after legal procedures.
