Gas supply to the national grid has increased to 2.62 billion cubic feet a day after more than six weeks, easing pressure on industries and other consumers in several areas.

Petrobangla data shows domestic sources are supplying 1.62 billion cubic feet, while LNG accounts for another 1 billion cubic feet.

The improvement came after LNG supply was increased from Tuesday night. Gas pressure has since risen in industrial areas including Savar, Ashulia, Chattogram and Narsingdi.

However, the situation remains below normal in Gazipur.

Gas pressure has also improved at some CNG filling stations and in residential areas. The latest increase follows a sharp rise in national grid supply over the past two days.
