Two accused have confessed to their involvement in the death of a primary school headteacher who fell from an autorickshaw after muggers snatched her bag near the National Parliament complex in Dhaka.

The accused, Khokon and Rajib, made confessional statements before separate Dhaka metropolitan magistrates on Wednesday. The court later sent them to jail.

According to the case statement, Ranjila Parvin,56, headteacher of Bagbari Government Primary School in Gabtali, Bogura, was travelling with her husband to see an eye specialist at around 5:55 AM on August 29.

When they reached near Gate 12 of the Parliament complex on Manik Mia Avenue, motorcycle-borne muggers grabbed and pulled her handbag. She fell from the moving autorickshaw and suffered severe head injuries.

She was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on the way.

Her husband filed the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. The investigation officer later sought to record the accused's statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
